College Descriptions

 

Core Curriculum

The purpose of this college is to provide all Agape’s employees with a balanced, broad, and coherent general education affiliated with the long term care industry. The classes in the Core Curriculum are designed to introduce employees to different modes of thinking, increase their broad based foundation of knowledge, and understand how diverse intellectual skills as well as personalities can be brought together to build strong and successful teams of service to others. All Agape’s employees are encouraged to complete all classes in the core curriculum college in order to foster their commitment to Agape and the communities we serve as well as to enhance their decision-making skills in all areas.

College of Business Administration

The College of Business Administration teaches Agape’s employees to seek new or higher positions in various areas in the long term care industry, such as budgeting, accounting, payroll, personnel, computer systems, facilities planning, and risk management. The courses in this college are geared towards employees who are seeking ways to improve their leadership and customer service skills along with enhancing their communication, planning and problem-solving skills. This course is designed to expand our employee’s way of conducting day to day business in order to become a more efficient employee.

College of Marketing and Sales

The College of Marketing and Sales offers courses that include advertising, customer service, marketing strategies, public relations, and brand management that will prepare Agape’s employees for a wide variety of opportunities. Marketing and sales strategies are the foundation of success and company growth, and these courses will offer practical solutions to realistic problems in order to become a successful marketer. Employees who complete these courses will have enhanced education to provide them with professional and effective marketing skills to enhance their success in the long term care industry.

College of Palliative Care

The College of Palliative Care focuses on the employee’s role of caring for Agape’s residents and patients who are living with chronic conditions at the end of their lives. These courses will emphasize the importance of dignity and respect to every patient while focusing on comfort care for each. Employees who provide care for Agape’s hospice patients, residents and family members will further their knowledge and skills in this specialized and individualized kind of compassionate care. The goal for these courses is to insure that employees have the knowledge to maintain the primary objective of quality of life of patients and residents while still providing the best possible quality of care to those facing pain and/or life-limiting illnesses.

College of Regulatory Compliance

In the healthcare industry, employees must be vigilant when complying with all the regulations specific to their positions. The College of Regulatory Compliance will cover a wide variety of topics from medical technician training to better communication skills. Required in-services and compliance audits are the best ways to ensure Agape is meeting the standards of the various regulatory agencies, such as DHEC and Medicare, that apply to the long term care industry. The skills Agape’s employees will gain in this college will provide assurance that the details of each operational function are being handled correctly and reduce noncompliance.
